A man borrowed his ex-wife’s cellphone and noticed something that left him shocked and disturbed, prompting him to immediately call the cops.
A father went to pick up his 1-year-old daughter from the baby’s mother, Jerrica. While at home, the father needed to borrow Jerrica’s phone. He noticed that she had the app Kik installed on her phone and knew that the app had been associated with the exploitation of children.
The father opened the app on Jerrica’s phone and was deeply disturbed by what he found. His ex-wife had been sending nude photos and videos of their daughter to her boyfriend. The photos and videos also revealed that Jerrica was se-ually abusing the baby.
As per reports, the 29-year-old Jerrica has been charged with five counts of se-ual abuse of a child younger than 12. The mother was arrested and is being held in jail on a $250,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office says that Jerrica said she took the photos and videos because her boyfriend asked her to and that she used the Kik app to send them to him.
“I know initially when we got the call we’re like that can’t be,” Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Casey said. “I mean that’s hard to even comprehend that a mother would do something like that to a child.”
Casey explained that Jerrica and her boyfriend “had been face timing, and over the course of this relationship, he asks her to send pictures and videos of this baby of acts being performed.”
A neighbor who witnessed Jerrica’s arrest, said that they watched police pull into her driveway and have guns drawn as they arrested the mother.
“We see her all the time outside with the babies, interacting with them, and she just didn’t seem like she would ever do that,” the neighbor said. “Just shocking, ’cause that’s our neighbor. Like I said, there are babies here. Babies all around the neighborhood.”
According to reports, the FBI is helping with the investigation because the photos crossed state lines.
Additional phones and iPads have been found in Jerrica’s home. The investigation is still underway as the devices are being searched by deputies.
The affidavit reveals that Jerrica and her boyfriend would communicate via FaceTime and Kik, and that the mother would send photos and videos of herself molesting her daughter, sometimes using objects. The most recent video was sent on the day that the father discovered the disturbing footage.
