Police presence at Kettering elementary school after loaded handgun found in licker

Kettering, Ohio – The discovery of a handgun in a student’s locker drew police officers to an elementary school in Kettering.

According to a Kettering City Schools spokesperson, one student said to a parent after school that they had spotted a handgun in a classmate’s locker. The parent contacted the elementary school principal, Laura Meek, immediately after those allegations.

Kettering Police were also alerted about this situation after school officials found the handgun in the locker.

According to authorities, the weapon was loaded, and reportedly, the school confirmed that the gun had been brought by a student of elementary school age.

The reasons why the student brought a loaded weapon into the school have not been confirmed.
