An experienced doctor, known in the past as the “danger to society” doctor, was recently fired from the hospital where he worked for almost two years after he decided to treat his Covid-ill patients with the anti-parasite drug Ivermectin instead of following the hospital policy and use Remdesivir as a part of the Covid-19 treatment.
The Ivermectin, a highly popular drug among the public since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, is FDA approved drug and safe to use in humans for treatment of certain tropical diseases. For humans, ivermectin tablets are approved at very specific doses to treat some parasitic worms, and topical (on the skin) formulations are used for head lice and skin conditions like rosacea.
However, numerous studies have confirmed that Ivermectin actually helps the Covid-19 patients in certain situations and the drug almost instantly became the ‘most-wanted’ drug on the black market since the FDA has never approved to be part of the regular Covid-19 treatment.
Just like many others, Dr. J. Witcher, an emergency room physician, believes in the healing power of Ivermectin in corona patients and he decided to switch the FDA approved drug Remdesivir for Ivermectin in the treatment of several of his patients who tested positive on Covid-19 in a Mississippi hospital where he worked until recently.
As soon as the hospital officials heard about the incident, Dr. Witcher was fired and was told not to come at work since he violated the hospital policy on Ivermectin, which is not approved by the FDA for COVID-19.
According to CBS who were among the first to report the case, Dr. Witcher is known anti-vaxxer doctor and he is also founder of a physicians group that disputes the efficacy of the coronavirus vaccine and opposes requirements that people be inoculated, told podcast the Stew Peters Show that he thinks Remdesivir “has not proven to be beneficial” to COVID-19 patients.
“I was very surprised that I was basically told to not come back at the end of the day,” Dr. Witcher said on the podcast. “These patients were under my direct care, and so I felt like taking them off Remdesivir and putting them on ivermectin was the right thing to do at the time.”
Multiple major news outlets contacted the hospital about the case and they confirmed that Dr. Witcher is no longer part of their team since recently. Additionally, a spokesperson noted that Dr. Witcher was an independent contractor and not an employee of Baptist Memorial.
The hospital added that they follow “the standards of care recommended by the scientific community and our medical team in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19,” including FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccines and monoclonal antibody treatments.
Previously, Witcher’s medical license was revoked after the Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure opened up an investigation into over a decade of misconduct and concluded that the doctor was a “danger to society,” according to Newsweek.
While the number of Covid-19 cases is again on the rise in the last couple of weeks, health officials across the country are pushing for vaccination. Unvaccinated are urged to get their first shot ahead of the holidays and hopefully build immunity before the holiday family gatherings, while the fully vaccinated are asked to get their booster dose in an effort to be safe against the newly discovered and fast-spreading Omicron variant.
