Dayton, Ohio – Dayton residents will have an opportunity to explore original artwork created by artists from around the world who now call the city home during the upcoming New Americans art exhibit presented by Welcome Dayton.
The exhibit will officially open with a public reception on Thursday, November 5, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dayton Metro Library, located at 215 E. Third Street.
The opening event will take place in the Community Room on the library’s second floor, offering visitors a chance to meet the participating artists and learn more about their work.
Admission to both the opening reception and the exhibit is completely free.
The artwork will remain on display through December 31, allowing community members additional opportunities to visit after the opening celebration.
Opening reception to feature international musicians and artist discussions
One of the main attractions of the November 5 reception will be the opportunity for visitors to speak directly with the artists about their original creations.
Guests will also enjoy live musical performances highlighting different cultural traditions.
Senegalese kora player Sana Cissokho will perform during the event, along with Mexican musical duo Los Hermanos Martin.
Light refreshments will also be available for those attending the reception.
The event is being organized by the Welcome Dayton Community, Culture & Arts Committee, with support from several local organizations.
Sponsors include Dayton Metro Library, Custom Frame Services and the Dayton Society of Artists.
The exhibition provides a platform for artists who have made Dayton their home to share their creative work with the wider community.
Residents interested in attending can visit the library during the opening reception on November 5 or explore the artwork during the exhibition period ending December 31.
