Dayton man confessed to abduction and murder in 2019

Dayton, Ohio – On Wednesday, a Dayton man pleaded guilty in federal court for his part in the kidnapping and murder of another man.

Antoine Dye, 37, was involved in the kidnapping and murder of Kwasi Casey in 2019. According to court records, Case was kidnapped at gunpoint by five people and was taken to one of the kidnappers’ residence where he was severely beaten with a baseball bat. The kidnappers also demanded a ransom from the victim’s relatives.

According to the indictment, Casey managed to escape the house on July 8, but was found shortly after by the suspects, who forced him into the vehicle and beat him again.

Casey eventually succumbed to his injuries.

The kidnappers placed Casey’s body into a garage on Fountain Avenue in Dayton and set the garage on fire on Sept. 17 in order to destroy evidence linking them to Casey’s murder as well as Casey’s body.

Casey’s remains were discovered on September 26, according to court documents.

According to the court, Dye was charged with conspiring to kidnap the victim. He might be sentenced to up to life in prison for the crime.
