Waste collection schedules in Dayton, Moraine, and Jefferson Township adjusted for Memorial Day holiday week

Dayton, Ohio – Residents in Dayton and surrounding communities should prepare for temporary changes to trash, recycling, and bulk pickup schedules during the week of Memorial Day.

The City of Dayton announced that waste collection services will be adjusted during the week of May 25 because of the holiday observance. The modified schedule impacts Dayton, Moraine, and Jefferson Township residents who receive services through the City of Dayton Division of Waste Collection.

City officials said collection schedules in Dayton will shift by one day throughout the week. Trash and recycling pickups normally scheduled after Memorial Day will occur one day later than usual. Officials also noted that there will be no bulk collection service in Dayton on Friday, May 29.

Residents in Moraine will also see changes to waste collection schedules. According to the city, trash, recycling, and bulk collection services originally planned for Friday, May 29, will instead take place on Saturday, May 30.

Jefferson Township residents are also expected to experience service delays tied to the holiday schedule. Trash collection in the township will move back by one day during the week. Recycling and bulk collection services scheduled for Friday, May 29, will also be completed on Saturday, May 30.

Residents Asked to Prepare Containers Early

City officials are reminding customers across all affected communities to place containers at their normal pickup locations no later than 6 a.m. on their adjusted collection day to help avoid missed service.

The Memorial Day holiday routinely causes temporary schedule adjustments for sanitation departments across the region as city offices and crews observe the federal holiday.

Officials encouraged residents to review the updated schedule carefully, especially those expecting bulk collection services later in the week.

Residents with questions about waste collection services can contact the City of Dayton by phone at 937-333-4800 or use the online chat feature available through the city’s website.

City leaders say the temporary schedule changes are designed to help crews continue operating efficiently while accommodating the holiday week.
