Public feedback sought on major transportation projects in Dayton and Miami County

Dayton, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 7 is inviting public input on two significant infrastructure projects planned in Miami County and the City of Dayton. The proposed projects aim to improve roadway safety, address aging infrastructure, and enhance pedestrian accessibility.

Miami County Culvert Repairs and Resurfacing

ODOT has proposed a project to replace three culvert systems in Monroe and Union Townships on State Route 571 and in Concord Township on State Route 718. This project, titled MIA-Culvert Repairs, PID 116494, also includes resurfacing a section of State Route 571.

Construction at the MIA-571-01.62 location is planned for spring or summer 2025, with the work to be carried out by ODOT County forces. The remainder of the repairs will take place in summer 2026 and will be handled by a contractor. These updates aim to improve drainage systems and extend the life of the roadways.

Salem Avenue Reconstruction in Dayton

The City of Dayton plans to reconstruct Salem Avenue between Emerson Avenue and Elsemere Avenue. The project, identified as MOT-Salem Avenue Reconstruction Phase 5, PID 116961, is designed to tackle deteriorated infrastructure and improve pedestrian accessibility.

This ambitious project includes the installation of new pavement, curbs, sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, catch basins, and street lighting. Reconstruction is expected to begin in spring 2027. By upgrading these critical elements, the project aims to ensure safer and more accessible streets for residents and visitors.
