Columbus, Ohio – Gov. DeWine has announced recently that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is now distributing 1.4 million copies of Ohio’s newly designed state map. This latest edition, which made its debut at the 2024 Ohio State Fair, emphasizes Ohio’s tourism brand, “Ohio, The Heart of It All.”
“Our state map is a gateway to all things Ohio,” said Governor DeWine. “Our new map is about more than just our roads, it’s a tool we can use to showcase all we have to offer in Ohio the Heart of It All!”
The new map is crafted to be a comprehensive guide not only for local Ohioans but also for tourists visiting the state. It features the latest updates on road changes and routes, making it an indispensable tool for anyone looking to navigate the state’s highways and byways with ease. Additionally, the map highlights various points of interest and notable destinations across Ohio, enhancing the travel experience for users.
Beyond its navigational utility, the 2024 edition of the map is enriched with photos showcasing Ohio’s attractions, families enjoying outdoor activities, and other notable locations throughout the state. It also includes useful information such as facts about Ohio, contact details for the Ohio State Highway Patrol, guidelines on Ohio’s distracted driving laws, and safety reminders for drivers to move over and slow down when passing roadside workers.
ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks highlighted the reliability of having a physical map in today’s digital age. “Online navigation services can go offline. Cell service can drop. It’s always smart to have hard copy back-up in your vehicle with you,” Marchbanks noted. “Whether you are taking your family to explore one of our state’s beautiful parks or attractions, planning a business trip, or need to plot the best route to get from point A to point B, Ohio’s new state map will get you there.”
For those interested, free copies of the map are available at state rest areas, or they can be ordered from the ODOT website at no cost. The maps are printed by RR Donnelly, based in Macedonia, Ohio, continuing a tradition that started when the first official state map was published back in 1912. This effort ensures that both residents and visitors have access to the most accurate and functional navigation tool to explore the rich diversity and offerings of Ohio.
