Sidney, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 7 is inviting public input on several upcoming infrastructure projects aimed at improving pedestrian access, road conditions, and bridge safety across various communities in Ohio. These projects are in various stages of planning, with construction scheduled to begin between 2025 and 2027. Below are key details of the projects and the proposed improvements.
Gerlaugh Road Pedestrian Connection (Bethel Township)
The Bethel Township Board of Trustees has proposed a project (PID 118650) to create a pedestrian link between Crystal Lakes and Park Layne by constructing a new five-foot-wide sidewalk along Gerlaugh Road, stretching from Carlotta Street in Park Layne to Med-Lake Park. Once inside the park, an eight-foot-wide asphalt path will be added, extending along the park’s western edge to connect to the existing walking trail. This trail will further extend north through a vacant lot to Aspen Road in Crystal Lakes. Construction is planned for Summer 2027 and is expected to last approximately two months.
Old Reid Park Resurfacing (Springfield)
The Springfield Conservancy District is proposing to resurface the main drive of Old Reid Park (PID 120900) off Croft Road. This project includes reconstructing the turn-around at the southern end of the park. Construction is slated to begin in Summer 2025, aiming to improve access for park visitors.
Intersection Improvements at US 33 and SR 274 (Logan County)
In an update regarding the proposed improvements at the intersection of US 33 and SR 274 (PID 118109), ODOT has confirmed that, after reviewing public input, a roundabout remains the preferred solution. This decision comes after considering safety and traffic flow benefits. A summary of the public feedback and ODOT’s responses has been posted on the project’s webpage.
Siegrist-Jutte Road Bridge Replacement (Mercer County)
The Mercer County Engineer’s Office is planning to replace the Siegrist-Jutte Road bridge over the Wabash River (PID 117990). The bridge is currently in a deteriorated condition, making the replacement essential to ensure safety and usability. Construction is set for Summer 2026.
Taylorsville Dam Road Improvements (Miami County)
The Miami Conservancy District (MCD) has proposed improvements to Taylorsville Dam Road (PID 120890). The project includes widening and paving the road with asphalt and tying it into South Cassel Road. Limited work will occur within Taylorsville MetroPark to facilitate this connection. The project is expected to begin in June 2025.

ODOT encourages residents and stakeholders to share their feedback on these projects by October 31, 2024. Those interested can contact Tricia Bishop at 937-497-6721 or email [email protected].
