Sidney, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 7 is currently seeking public feedback on several key infrastructure projects slated for development across multiple counties. These initiatives aim to enhance road safety, improve pedestrian access, and preserve existing transportation structures.
Key Projects and Enhancements
Spangler Road Safety Improvements: Scheduled to commence in July 2026, this significant project will reconstruct Spangler Road from Restoration Park Drive to Main Street in Medway, Clark County. It includes raising the roadway to mitigate flooding issues, improving sight distances, upgrading the signal at the Main Street intersection, and replacing the bridge over Medway Creek. The primary goal is to enhance safety along this vital corridor.
Sweitzer Street Redesign: In Greenville, the plan to overhaul Sweitzer Street from Eidson Road to Birt Street will transform the roadway from four lanes to three, adding a center left-turn lane and a new sidewalk. Set to begin in early 2028, this project aims to reduce traffic crashes and enhance pedestrian accessibility.
Bridge Maintenance on SR 47 and US 127: Maintenance efforts for the SR 47 bridge over Gray’s Branch and the US 127 bridge over Mile Creek are crucial for preserving these structures. The maintenance, slated to start in the summer of 2026, will ensure the longevity and safety of these bridges in Darke County.
Intersection Improvements at US 33 and SR 274: To address the high crash rate at the US 33 and State Route 274 intersection in McArthur Township, Logan County, ODOT is planning to convert this intersection into a modern roundabout. This project, expected to begin shortly, will significantly improve the safety and operation of the intersection. More details and an online presentation are available on the ODOT Project Page for this initiative.
Great Miami River Trail Crossing Upgrades: Set to kick off in early 2026, the Miami Conservancy District will enhance the safety of the Great Miami River Recreational Trail at five road crossings in Dayton, Moraine, West Carrollton, and Miamisburg. This includes upgrading signage, pavement markings, curb ramps, and lighting.
Yankee Street Resurfacing and Sidewalk Improvements: Montgomery County Engineer’s Office proposes a resurfacing project for Yankee Street from Spring Valley Pike to Leona Lane, starting in Spring 2027. This project will also fill a sidewalk connectivity gap and include updates to traffic signals and curb ramps to meet ADA standards, enhancing pedestrian access and addressing deteriorated pavement conditions.
Public Involvement and Feedback
ODOT District 7 emphasizes the importance of community feedback in shaping these projects. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to submit their comments by August 31, 2024, to Tricia Bishop at 937-497-6721 or via email at [email protected].
