Ohio confirms 7,526 new Covid-19 cases, 151 additional deaths

Ohio – The state is reporting 7,526 new COVID-19 cases and 151 new deaths on Tuesday.

While the number of new cases is lower than the 21-day average, the numbers of deaths, hospitalizations and ICU admissions are all above their averages.

The Ohio Department of Health reported 151 deaths in the last 24 hours, compared to 77 deaths on average. The state also reported 560 hospitalizations (353 average) and 52 ICU admissions (38 average).

The state has seen a large rise in cases, deaths and hospitalizations over the last couple months and health officials feared that the holidays would lead to an even larger spike. That has not yet been the case; however, they are still urging Ohioans to remain cautious while COVID-19 vaccinations are being distributed in a first phase, largely to health care workers and first responders.
