Dayton, Ohio – Two men who participated in the armed robbery of an Uber driver in Harrison Township have been sentenced to prison after admitting their involvement in the crime.
The case arose from a violent incident that occurred on December 9, 2025, in the 4000 block of Indian Runn Drive. Authorities said an Uber driver had just completed a ride and dropped off two passengers when the situation suddenly escalated.
According to investigators, the driver was threatened with a firearm and had his vehicle stolen during the robbery. The incident triggered an immediate law enforcement response as authorities worked to locate the stolen vehicle and identify those responsible.
Investigation Leads To Guilty Pleas
The victim’s vehicle was recovered not long after the robbery thanks to a coordinated effort involving the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Dayton Police Department.
Following the recovery of the vehicle, detectives launched an investigation that included reviewing available evidence and working with Uber to gather information connected to the ride and its passengers.
Through those investigative efforts, authorities were able to identify Shaquan Barker and Armone Kinney as suspects in the case.
Both men later entered guilty pleas in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court for their roles in the armed robbery.
On May 28, 2026, the court handed down prison sentences for both defendants.
Barker received a sentence of five to seven and a half years in prison. Kinney was sentenced to four to six years behind bars.
The sentencing marked the conclusion of a case that began with a frightening encounter for the Uber driver, who was confronted with a firearm and deprived of his vehicle after what initially appeared to be a routine ride.
Authorities credited the successful outcome of the investigation to cooperation between multiple agencies and the use of evidence gathered during the inquiry. The partnership between local law enforcement and Uber helped detectives piece together the circumstances of the robbery and identify the individuals involved. Both Barker and Kinney remain in custody at the Montgomery County Jail.
