Chillicothe, Ohio – The project to rehabilitate the driving surface of the Oakley C. Collins Memorial Bridge, which spans the Ohio River, has been completed 13 days ahead of schedule. Initially planned for a 30-day closure starting on September 23, the bridge reopened after just 17 days of work, bringing relief to the surrounding communities.
Ohio Department of Transportation District 9 Deputy Director Mike Dombrowski expressed gratitude to the public for their patience during the project. “We knew this project would be a big disruption for people on both sides of the Ohio River. We really appreciate the hard work of the contractor to complete this vital work safely and ahead of schedule,” he said.
The completion of this project not only restores a vital transportation link between communities on both sides of the Ohio River but also underscores ODOT’s commitment to connecting people and businesses safely. The improvements ensure that both residents and goods can move efficiently throughout the region.
Constructed with an expected lifespan of 80 years, the Oakley C. Collins Memorial Bridge will continue to be a crucial part of the area’s infrastructure for decades to come. The $813,529 project, completed by Complete General Construction Company, further solidifies the bridge’s role in fostering regional growth and connectivity.
