Evening and overnight construction to affect downtown traffic and parking for several days

Dayton, Ohio – Drivers and downtown visitors should prepare for temporary traffic and parking changes as two resurfacing projects move forward over the coming days. City officials announced that roadwork along portions of Third Street and Ludlow Street will impact evening and overnight travel through May 13.

Although traffic will continue moving through the affected areas, certain lanes will be closed while crews complete the work. Officials stated that all construction activity will take place during evening and overnight hours in an effort to reduce daytime disruptions.

In addition to lane closures, on-street parking restrictions will also be enforced during construction periods. No parking will be allowed from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. while work is underway.

Multiple downtown streets affected by resurfacing work

The first project involves West Third Street from Robert Drive to Main Street, along with East Third Street from Main Street to Jefferson Street. According to the schedule, crews will focus on asphalt removal through May 6 before shifting to asphalt paving from May 6 through May 9.

A second resurfacing effort will impact Ludlow Street between West Monument Avenue and West Washington Street. Asphalt removal in that area is planned from May 7 through May 9, followed by paving work from May 9 through May 13.

Officials emphasized that traffic will still be maintained throughout the projects, though drivers should expect slower travel and occasional lane restrictions during overnight hours.

Special attention is also being given to areas surrounding the Schuster Center. City officials said evening construction work affecting traffic near the venue will not begin until programming has ended and patrons have safely departed the area.

Motorists are being encouraged to remain alert, follow posted signs, and plan for possible delays while the resurfacing projects continue. The work is expected to improve roadway conditions downtown once completed.
