Dayton, Ohio – A new national discount retailer scheduled to establish a grocery store in Miami Township promises to provide fresh food alternatives and employment possibilities to the area, so Dayton is ready to welcome a new addition to its retail landscape. Offering a wider range of food products, the proposed Dollar General Market seeks to stand out from the conventional model of its outlets by specifically meeting the demands of local consumers looking for affordable grocery choices.
Based in Cincinnati, Josh Allen of A4 Real Estate Group drives the project and has sent a final development plan to the zoning commission to Miami Township. The concept is for an 11,000-square-foot store near the Speedway on Miamisburg Springboro Road just west of Byers Road. Comprising 1.24 acres, the property also features 34 parking spaces set out for staff members as well as consumers.
Unlike other Dollar General stores that mostly offer non-perishable goods and home items, the new Dollar General Market will have a larger inventory including fresh vegetables, refrigerated and frozen foods, dairy products, and fresh meats. Specifically meant to serve communities with limited access to such facilities, this concept seeks to offer a complete shopping experience similar to a full-service grocery store.

“There is a significant need for accessible grocery options in this area, and this store will allow residents to find fresh food and everyday essentials close to home without the need to travel long distances,” Allen said in his application to the zoning commission, according to a report by Dayton Business Journal.
Dollar General Market already has two other stores—one in Shiloh at 4600 N Main St and another in Riverside at 2312 N Main St.; this new business is not the first of its kind in the Dayton area. Specifically in places lacking supermarket options, these stores have been popular for their inexpensive and convenient products.

The recommendation for the new store has been approved by the zoning commission; the project is now set for Wednesday, August 7, board of trustees review. Should approval be granted, the project will be carried out in a single phase; however, the project start and completion dates have not yet been revealed.
Originally established in Kentucky in 1955, Dollar General has grown dramatically over the years to today with more than 5,000 Dollar General Markets among 19,000 locations spread over 48 states. Originally launched in 2003, Dollar General Markets were developed to provide a consistent, reasonably priced grocery shopping solution, therefore reducing food instabilities in rural areas.
