The doctors told the mother that her child would not live for 20 days.
Genesis was born prematurely at 25 weeks. She weighed slightly over 1 pound. Doctors told her mother that it would be a miracle if she survived the first 20 days. Her mother broke down and, having nowhere else to turn for help, turned to God. By God’s grace, Genesis is still alive today. And she lives much longer than doctors predicted. She is now 15 years old.
In addition to the obvious physical problems, which include brittle bones and lung and heart problems, she also underwent a kidney transplant last year. She is aware that she does not have a normal life.
“It’s a wonder she’s here with us today; she managed to overcome obstacles one after another. She’s a really strong girl,” said Emily, Genesis’ sister.
Her mother, Marta, is more than grateful to God for answering her prayers. Her daughter is able to celebrate her 15th birthday, beating all the odds against her. And with the help of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, it was a very special celebration. She had everything—a limo, hair, makeup, and yes, even a custom dress. See what the celebration looked like here.
