Dayton police recover seven firearms during proactive patrol and make four arrests including juvenile suspect in aggravated assault

Dayton, Ohio – In the early hours of May 29, 2025, a routine proactive patrol by Dayton police officers led to the recovery of seven firearms—two of which had been reported stolen—and the arrest of four individuals, including a juvenile with a known history involving firearms.

Patrol Encounter Leads to Weapons Recovery

Shortly after 12:30 a.m., officers were patrolling the area near 2027 Nicholas Road when they noticed two males abruptly change direction upon spotting law enforcement. Officers observed the two clutching their waistbands, which authorities note is a common action among individuals attempting to conceal or stabilize a heavy object such as a firearm.

Police moved to stop the two individuals. One was apprehended just as he attempted to enter an establishment at the location. The second suspect entered the establishment’s main area and was seen throwing his firearm across the room. Both were quickly detained by officers.

Following their arrest, a deeper investigation into the situation unfolded. Officers were able to recover seven firearms at the scene. Two of the guns had been reported stolen—one from Dayton and the other from a neighboring county.

Multiple Arrests Made in Connection With Firearms and Prior Incidents

Among those arrested was a 16-year-old male who is now facing charges in an aggravated assault case. He is accused of firing shots at another juvenile in a separate incident.

An 18-year-old male was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. His charges include tampering with evidence, carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest.

A 20-year-old male was also arrested at the scene. He faces charges of tampering with evidence, carrying a concealed weapon, and obstructing official business.

Additionally, officers arrested a 35-year-old female for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities confirmed that all three male suspects have previous involvement with firearms and are known to police. Their continued interaction with illegal weapons has made them persons of interest in other investigations.

Ongoing Investigation by Violent Offender Unit

Detectives from the Dayton Police Department’s Violent Offender Unit are actively continuing their investigation into this incident. The recovery of stolen firearms and arrest of individuals with violent histories underscore the dangers that law enforcement face in such operations.

Police officials emphasized that the proactive patrol and quick response of officers were key to preventing further violence in the community.
