Dayton, Ohio – The City of Dayton has announced that new sidewalks and curbs will be constructed in the southwest Dayton neighborhood of Edgemont this year. The project, funded by the Dayton Recovery Plan, was approved by the City Commission on August 14, with a contract totaling $463,000.
Enhancing Edgemont and Beyond
The infrastructure improvements in Edgemont will focus on key corridors, including Cincinnati Street, Miami Chapel Road, and Edgemont Avenue. These upgrades are part of a broader effort to improve neighborhoods across Dayton. In addition to Edgemont, six other neighborhoods—Five Oaks, Wolf Creek, Carillon, Miami Chapel, Old North Dayton, and Twin Towers—are slated for similar enhancements as additional contracts are approved.
Investing in Dayton’s Future
Improving neighborhoods is a central focus of the Dayton Recovery Plan, with $55 million dedicated to neighborhood investments. These funds will be used for infrastructure improvements, demolition, housing repair and rehabilitation, and small business support.
The Dayton Recovery Plan is the city’s strategy for utilizing $138 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funds to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of the plan is to create long-term, transformational, and sustainable impacts in key focus areas and special initiatives that benefit the entire city.
