City of Dayton welcomes Theresa McGeady as new Water Environmental Management Division leader

Dayton, Ohio – Dayton’s City Manager, Shelley Dickstein, announced the appointment of Theresa McGeady as the new manager of the Dayton Department of Water Environmental Management Division earlier this week. McGeady, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, will be responsible for a broad range of critical services and initiatives within the division.

As the new division manager, McGeady will oversee several key programs. These include the Stormwater Management Program and the multi-jurisdictional Source Water Protection Program. Additionally, her responsibilities will encompass environmental sampling, environmental emergency response, and community education and outreach to ensure regulatory compliance.

McGeady’s career at the Department of Water began in 2018, when she joined as an environmental scientist. Her prior roles include serving as a marketing communications specialist at YSI and as an environmental compliance and sustainability coordinator at the Miami Conservancy District. Her educational background is solid, with a B.S. in Environmental Science obtained from Wright State University in 2002.

Michael Powell, the Director of the Department of Water, praised McGeady’s appointment, noting her adeptness in handling both the technical aspects and community relations facets of the department’s work. “Theresa has demonstrated skill in managing both the technical and community relations aspects of our work,” Powell stated. “We look forward to her leadership in continuing to advance the department’s goals and commitments.”

The division, staffed by nine members, plays a pivotal role in managing Dayton’s environmental resources and ensuring the city meets its environmental management obligations effectively. McGeady’s extensive background and proactive approach are expected to bring valuable leadership as the division addresses current and future environmental challenges.
