Dayton, Ohio – The City of Dayton is taking significant steps to renew and possibly enhance its standing as a Bicycle Friendly Community, a designation it first achieved in 2010. The city has submitted its renewal application to The League of American Bicyclists and is actively seeking community involvement to bolster its application.
The initiative is part of Dayton’s broader commitment to promoting cycling and active transportation, as outlined in the Dayton Active Transportation Plan adopted in 2023. This plan not only aims to maintain the city’s status but also to elevate it, reflecting the growing importance of sustainable and active travel options within the community.
Residents are encouraged to show their support for cycling in Dayton by participating in an online survey, which will be instrumental in the evaluation process by The League of American Bicyclists. The feedback collected will help demonstrate the community’s ongoing commitment to cycling and its benefits.
The survey can be accessed at daytonohio.gov/cyclingsurvey and will be available until October 15, 2024. By participating, residents can directly contribute to the city’s efforts to foster a more bike-friendly environment, enhancing both the quality of life and the health of the community.
