City Commission approves contracts for new sidewalks and curbs in Dayton neighborhoods

Dayton, Ohio – Residents of four Dayton neighborhoods can look forward to infrastructure improvements as new sidewalks and curbs are set to be installed later this year. On September 4, the City Commission approved construction contracts funded by the Dayton Recovery Plan, which will bring significant upgrades to Old North Dayton, Twin Towers, Miami Chapel, and Edgemont neighborhoods.

The approved contracts, totaling approximately $3.25 million, include services such as the removal of existing infrastructure where needed and the installation of new sidewalks, curbs, curb ramps, and driveway aprons. These improvements aim to enhance the safety and accessibility of the communities involved.

Broader Improvements Across Dayton

In addition to the work in these four neighborhoods, three other areas—Five Oaks, Wolf Creek, and Carillon—are also set to receive similar enhancements funded by the Dayton Recovery Plan. The contracts for these projects were approved by the Commission on different dates, demonstrating the city’s commitment to neighborhood development.

Neighborhood improvement is a key focus of the Dayton Recovery Plan, which allocates $55 million towards investments in infrastructure improvements, demolition, housing repairs and rehabilitation, and small business support. The Plan, backed by $138 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funds, aims to create lasting and sustainable impacts across Dayton as part of the city’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The City of Dayton continues to prioritize transformative investments, with a vision to make meaningful changes that benefit residents citywide. For more details about the Dayton Recovery Plan, visit daytonohio.gov/drp.
