Child endangerment charges to be filed against woman found in Florida with missing Dayton children

Dayton, Ohio – After an urgent search that spanned several states, authorities have confirmed that two missing Dayton children have been found safe in Florida. The Florida Highway Patrol located the children, bringing a safe end to what could have become a far more dangerous situation. The suspect, Sabrina Monegan, is now expected to face child endangering charges in Florida.

According to the Dayton Police Department, the situation began late in the evening on May 16, 2025, when 41-year-old Sabrina Monegan left with the children without proper authorization. Police reported she was driving a 2019 gray Honda HRV with an expired plate, JTF5062, and was “likely on her way to Florida.”

Authorities described Sabrina as being approximately 5’6″ tall and 180 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. The children involved were 1-year-old Kyng-Legend Wilkerson, last seen wearing a teal onesie with a whale and a Paw Patrol bookbag, and his 3-year-old brother, Lamont Wilkerson Jr., who was wearing a green shirt and black and white pants.

“If the described vehicle or persons are seen, contact the Dayton Police Department and local authorities,” the department stated during the search effort.

Thanks to the coordination between Dayton Police and Florida Highway Patrol, the case has been resolved safely, though legal proceedings for Monegan are expected to follow swiftly. Authorities have not released further details at this time but emphasize the importance of public awareness and cross-state cooperation in child welfare cases like this one.
