Biden’s unexpected response to DeSantis’ statements about pardoning Trump: He laughs off the idea and walks away

During a recent encounter, President Biden dismissed a question about the possibility of issuing a pardon for former President Donald Trump, who is currently entangled in a number of federal investigations. The president responded to the query with good-natured laughter and dismissed it lightheartedly. (Video below)

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy posed the question to the president in light of recent remarks made by GOP candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. DeSantis has voiced his willingness to contemplate granting Trump a pardon should he find himself in the Oval Office.

The reporter asked, “Where are you on the idea of a president pardoning Trump?” as Biden prepared to depart on Marine One for Delaware. President Biden responded with a smile and a dismissive wave, simply stating, “I’ll see you guys” and acknowledging that it was “a great question.”

Trump is currently under scrutiny by a federal special counsel investigation regarding his potential involvement in the 2021 Capitol riot, as well as the concealment of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

Interestingly, DeSantis, who is considered a significant contender for the GOP’s 2024 nomination, has pledged to contemplate pardoning Trump, along with the defendants of the Jan. 6 riot, if Trump were convicted of a federal crime.

On the “Clay and Buck” radio show, DeSantis outlined his approach, saying, “What I’m going to do is … on day one, I will have folks that will get together and look at all these cases [of] people who are victims of weaponization or political targeting, and we will be aggressive at issuing pardons.”

Despite this discussion, it should be noted that Trump is also facing legal difficulties in New York and Georgia, where any presidential pardon would not apply. These involve charges filed by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and an ongoing investigation in Georgia related to Trump’s alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election result in the state, which was won by Biden.
