”All these Indians, they come to America because they want a better life,” Racist Mexican-American woman caught on camera outside local restaurant assaulting Asian women

The number of racial incidents nationwide has been on the rise in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue this year too. While the majority of Americans are trying to combat racism in every type and form, there is a decent number of people who use every single occasion to attack people of color or people from other nationalities on a racial basis.

Earlier this week, a woman in Texas was caught on camera physically assaulting and threatening several Indian women at the parking lot of a local restaurant, an incident that resulted in her arrest, and the case is now being investigated as a hate crime incident. From what is clearly seen in the video, the woman attacks the victims on a racial basis, telling them to “go back to India”.

The woman from Plano, identified as E. Upton, was arrested on Thursday and she is facing assault bodily injury and terroristic threats charges for the incident that happened the day before, on Wednesday. Later, Andree Smith, a spokeswoman for the Plano police department, confirmed that Upton was let out of jail after putting up a $10,000 bond.

Yelling expletives, going on a racist rant, punching someone and threatening to shoot one of the victims are some of the things that are easily noticeable in the video that has already gone viral across several social platforms and gathered millions of views. “Go back to India,” Upton can be heard yelling at one point in the footage.

“Why did you walk up to talk to us?” one of the women can be heard asking Upton, who interrupts her and says, “Because I hate you f****** Indians. That’s why. All these f****** Indians, they come to America because they want a better life.”

Upton herself is clearly heard confessing that she is Mexican but informs the victims that she was born in America. That’s when she asked if they were born in America or not. One of the victims is also heard asking her not to make racial slurs. Indians living in America commented online that such incidents are way more frequent that people think they are.

When one of the women asks “what makes you think we’re not Americans?”, Upton replies back saying, “Because of the way you speak.” The Plano resident was also heard saying “f****** Indians” were everywhere.

According to the local police department, Upton wasn’t arrested at the scene because the alleged hate crime incident didn’t happen in the officers’ presence. Although she is not charged with a hate crime, Plano police said in a statement Friday that the incident is a “hate crime in accordance with Texas laws,” and could also prompt federal charges.

“We are working closely with the FBI and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division on this case,” the local police department wrote in a statement.

The motive behind the racial attack remains unknown. According to one of the victims, she and her friends had just finished eating when Upton approached them at the parking lot outside the local restaurant and started attacking and assaulting them for no apparent reason. The victims said they were happy to see Upton behind bars the next day, but what she did really hurt them.
