New agreement reached between Montgomery County Children Services and Professionals Guild of Ohio after collaborative talks

Dayton, Ohio – A new agreement between Montgomery County Children Services and the Professionals Guild of Ohio is set to shape the next several years for workers who serve vulnerable children and families across Montgomery County. Officials confirmed that both sides have reached a three-year contract, marking the continuation of a standard cycle while also highlighting cooperation during negotiations.

The deal was completed in a relatively short time, something leaders credited to strong communication and a shared focus on solutions. County officials and union representatives worked together to finalize terms without extended delays, allowing operations to continue without disruption.

Collaboration leads to agreement supporting workforce

Local leaders emphasized that the contract reflects both appreciation for staff and a focus on maintaining a stable workforce. Commission President Carolyn Rice stated, “This agreement reflects our continued commitment to supporting the dedicated professionals who serve children and families across Montgomery County.” She added, “Their work is critical, and we appreciate the collaborative approach that helped bring this agreement together.”

Commissioner Mary A. McDonald pointed to the efficiency of the process, saying, “This process demonstrated what can be accomplished when both sides come to the table focused on solutions.” She continued, “Reaching an agreement efficiently allows us to stay focused on what matters most, serving our community.”

The agreement directly impacts more than 200 caseworkers and support staff who are responsible for protecting children and helping families stay stable. County officials say the contract plays a key role in ongoing efforts to recruit and retain qualified workers in a field that often faces high demands.

Commissioner Judy Dodge stressed the importance of supporting employees, stating, “Investing in our workforce is essential.” She added, “When we support our caseworkers, we strengthen outcomes for children and families across Montgomery County.”

County Administrator Michael Colbert also highlighted the daily challenges faced by staff, saying, “Our caseworkers are on the front lines every day.” He noted, “This agreement reflects our commitment to ensuring they have the support they need to continue this critical work.”

Officials say the agreement is part of a broader effort to maintain strong services for children while ensuring workers have the resources and stability needed to perform their duties. At the same time, Montgomery County Children Services continues to recruit new caseworkers, encouraging interested applicants to explore available opportunities and benefits.

The finalized contract represents both a continuation of established practices and a renewed commitment to the people responsible for safeguarding children and supporting families across the county.
