City of Dayton launches AdaptDayton project to update zoning rules after 20 years

Dayton, Ohio – The City of Dayton is asking residents to take part in an important community effort aimed at shaping the future of neighborhoods across the city. Through a project known as AdaptDayton, officials are working to update Dayton’s zoning code and zoning map for the first time in nearly 20 years.

City leaders say it is time to ensure local rules better reflect today’s needs and future growth. In a public message, the city encouraged residents to get involved, stating, “After 20 years, it’s time to make sure our rules match our needs.” Officials are urging community members to complete an online survey and share their ideas about how land and buildings should be used moving forward.

Community voices at the center of change

AdaptDayton is described as a community-focused project led by the City of Dayton Planning Division. According to city officials, the effort will review zoning rules, zoning maps, and the way the city works with residents when it comes to development and land use decisions.

The city is emphasizing public participation, encouraging residents to speak up and take part in shaping policies that will affect housing, businesses, and neighborhood growth. The announcement reads, “We want to hear from you!”

Officials believe that updating zoning regulations will help ensure Dayton remains responsive to changing community needs while supporting responsible development.
