Morning snow emergency lifted in Montgomery County as road conditions improve

Dayton, Ohio – Montgomery County officials have announced that the Level 1 Snow Emergency, issued earlier on February 6, 2026, has been officially lifted as of 1:00 p.m., signaling improved road conditions following a morning of snowy and icy hazards.

The snow emergency was originally declared at 10:00 a.m. by Sheriff Rob Streck, as the county experienced slippery roads and accumulating snowfall that made travel dangerous. The Level 1 alert indicated that “roadways are hazardous due to snow and ice, and motorists are advised to use caution if travel is necessary.” Residents were encouraged to allow extra travel time and drive carefully if they had to be on the roads.

During the emergency, residents were reminded not to contact the Regional Dispatch Center to inquire about road conditions or the status of the alert. Instead, they were directed to visit the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office snow emergency webpage or call the snow emergency information line at (937) 496-SNOW.

By early afternoon, road crews had cleared enough snow and treated main roadways sufficiently to allow officials to lift the advisory. Authorities thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the morning’s weather challenges.

While the Level 1 Snow Emergency has been canceled, officials continue to urge caution as some untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses may still be slick. The Sheriff’s Office also emphasized the importance of staying informed during winter weather events by monitoring official channels for accurate updates and road safety guidance.

For future snow emergency declarations and detailed descriptions of each alert level, residents can continue to rely on the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office website.
