Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 7 is requesting public comments on a series of upcoming transportation projects aimed at improving safety and roadway conditions in Clark, Mercer, and Montgomery counties. These projects include intersection upgrades, road reconstructions, and pedestrian improvements, each with targeted timelines extending into 2027 through 2029.
Roundabouts Proposed for Crash-Prone Intersections on US 68 and US 127
One project currently under review is the US 68 at Fairfield Pike Intersection Improvements (PID 120763) in Clark County. ODOT is proposing to install a modern roundabout at this intersection due to a “high rate of injury crashes” in the area. The new roundabout is expected to reduce the likelihood and severity of collisions by calming traffic flow. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the summer of 2028.
A second safety improvement involves the US 127 and State Route 119 intersection (PID 120177) in Mercer County. Following a recent update, ODOT has confirmed that it will move forward with constructing a modern roundabout at this location to “reduce crashes, particularly injury crashes.” To accelerate the timeline and minimize disruption, ODOT plans to close the intersection for approximately 60 days during construction, with signed detours provided. This work is planned for spring 2027.
Needmore Road in Montgomery County to Undergo Major Reconstruction
A third project focuses on Needmore Road in Harrison Township (PID 121675). Led by the Montgomery County Engineer’s Office, this proposal involves reconstructing the stretch of Needmore Road from the Dayton Towne Plaza west entrance to the Needmore Road Bridge over I-75. The improvements will address “deteriorated pavement conditions, obsolete traffic signals, and gaps in the pedestrian system.” Plans include new sidewalks to improve walkability around the shopping plaza. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2029.
Public Comments Encouraged Through February 28
ODOT invites public feedback on how these projects may impact the local economy, air quality, traffic patterns, and historic or cultural resources.
Those interested in sharing their opinions or concerns can submit comments by February 28, 2026, by calling 937-497-6721 or emailing [email protected].
