Man wanted on felony warrants arrested after a SWAT team responded in Miamisburg

Miamisburg, Ohio – After an hour-long SWAT operation in Miamisburg on Tuesday evening, one individual was taken into custody.

Officers were sent to the 500 block of Cherry Hill Drive just before 4:30 p.m. in an effort to identify a wanted person, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

As described by Detective Sergeant Jeff Muncy of the Miamisburg Police Department, the incident began when an officer came across a man who was wanted on various felony warrants, including drug warrants. When the police attempted to apprehend the man, he ran inside an apartment building.

Jeffery Myers, 41, has been identified as the suspect, and he is currently being held in prison at the Montgomery County Jail.

According to Muncy, police were aware that Myers was in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident.

According to Muncy, the SWAT team was summoned to the location when Myers locked himself in the apartment and refused to come out.

The negotiating techniques used by the crews did not help the suspect to surrender, and he eventually got out of the apartment after pepper canisters were shot inside.

Myers was taken into custody around 8:37 p.m. He is facing charges of inducing panic and obstructing and resisting arrest.

There were no injuries reported.
