John Logue expected to continue Ohio EPA progress following Anne Vogel federal appointment

Columbus, Ohio – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has officially nominated John Logue to serve as the next director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA), pending confirmation by the Ohio Senate. The announcement was made after current Ohio EPA Director Anne M. Vogel was appointed as the new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 Administrator earlier this week.

“John Logue is a strong leader with a proven track record of serving Ohioans and leading important agencies,” said Governor DeWine. “I know John will continue the progress Ohio EPA has made during my administration protecting our air, land, and water.”

Logue is recognized for his extensive leadership experience within the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC), where he has held several top-level roles. Most recently, he served as Administrator and CEO of BWC, helping lead one of the largest state-run insurance systems in the country. His earlier roles at BWC included deputy administrator and chief of strategic direction.

As chief of strategic direction, Logue managed a variety of divisions and initiatives, including the Division of Safety & Hygiene and offices responsible for analytics, business intelligence, and business transformation. He also played a key role in launching the Workforce Safety Innovation Center, an initiative aimed at advancing workplace safety through innovation and technology.

In addition to his administrative leadership, Logue’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in economics from John Carroll University, a Master of Business Administration from Cleveland State University, and an Associate in Risk Management designation from the Insurance Institute of America.

If confirmed, Logue will assume a critical role at Ohio EPA, overseeing state efforts to protect Ohio’s natural resources while guiding environmental policy and regulation. The agency’s work includes maintaining clean air and water standards and promoting sustainable environmental practices across the state.

The Ohio Senate will now consider Governor DeWine’s nomination and vote on whether to confirm Logue as the next director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
