Father got angry after 10-year-old daughter’s custodial grandparents threatened to call the cops so he kicked the young girl out of his vehicle after midnight in an area frequented by predators; arrested

Florida – In a shocking incident in Florida, a father has been arrested for abandoning his 10-year-old daughter after midnight hours in an area frequented by predators. This egregious act of child neglect has raised concerns about child safety and parental responsibilities.

The unsettling event unfolded just after midnight on a Tuesday when the 30-year-old father, identified as H. Serrano, kicked his daughter out of his car on the roadway. This area, known for its heavy traffic and proximity to major tourist destinations, poses significant dangers, particularly at night. Sheriff M. Lopez highlighted the risks associated with the location. “She was distraught at the time. She was crying, she was confused. You know, she’s a 10-year-old little girl. It’s after midnight hours and it’s dark. This type of behavior is unacceptable. There’s wolves out there and there’s predators out there that prey on children,” Lopez said.

Local residents, witnessing the young girl being pushed from the car, quickly intervened. Their prompt action ensured her immediate safety and brought the situation to the attention of law enforcement. The girl, found distraught and in tears, was comforted by these Good Samaritans until deputies arrived.

According to Lopez, the father was apprehended without resistance and was reportedly cooperative with deputies. During his arrest, Serrano justified his actions by claiming he was frustrated by the girl’s custodial grandparents, who threatened to call the cops if he didn’t return her to them immediately. He told his daughter to walk to her grandparents’ home, estimating it as a 20-minute walk, a journey that Sheriff Lopez criticized as dangerous for a child her age.

The incident not only led to legal consequences for Serrano but also sparked a broader discussion on child safety and parental negligence. Sheriff Lopez voiced his hope that Serrano would receive the necessary therapy while in custody, emphasizing that the safety of children should never be compromised. He criticized Serrano’s choice to abandon his daughter on the road rather than ensuring she reached a safe location, calling the act “shameful.”

The girl was safely returned to her grandparents’ home, where she is presumably under better care. This case has highlighted the critical role that community vigilance plays in safeguarding children and has reminded parents and guardians of the paramount importance of child protection and welfare. Serrano was charged with child neglect without great bodily harm. This charge reflects the seriousness of leaving a child unattended in a potentially life-threatening situation without causing direct physical injury. Following his arrest, Serrano was taken into custody in the county jail, with bail set at $2,500.
