Beavercreek, Ohio – An 82-year-old Beavercreek man was sentenced to over two decades in prison for sexually abusing a child.
A judge from Greene County Common Pleas Court handed out a 25-year to life prison term to Gary Deis.
In a statement released by the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office, the prosecutor said, “In approximately 2006, Deis sexually assaulted the child at a home in Beavercreek. Several years later, the child disclosed the abuse, and the City of Beavercreek Police Department began an investigation.”
Officials say the victim’s mother recorded a phone conversation with Deis, during which he said things that confirmed the sex abuse.
Deis will be ineligible for parole for at least 25 years after being sentenced.
“Justice does not have an age limit. Justice does not have an end date. It is likely that Gary Deis will die in prison, but keep in mind that the victim has been carrying this trauma and pain since 2006 and will continue to do so in the future,” Greene County Prosecutor David Hayes said.
