Dayton woman accused of stealing prescription narcotic pain medications from nursing homes formally charged

Dayton, Ohio – A Dayton nurse has been formally charged of stealing prescription opioid painkillers from multiple nursing homes where she worked, shockingly violating professional ethics and trust. According to Montgomery County prosecutors, 38-year-old Iesha Works faces serious charges regarding the illegal procurement and handling of controlled drugs.

Works has been indicted on five counts of theft of drugs and one count of illegal processing of drug documents. These accusations follow investigations showing her alleged involvement in the theft of three different healthcare facilities. The Dayton woman is accused of stealing potent pain medications such as tramadol, oxycodone, and hydrocodone from three different healthcare facilities.

According to court records, Works allegedly stole tramadol and oxycodone from Stonesprings of Vandalia, a known nursing facility, starting the string of thefts about October 11, 2021. The events carried on over several days, ending on October 15, 2021.

Additional charges center on Oxycodone theft from Walnut Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Miamisburg in January 2022. She is also accused of obtaining both oxycodone and hydrocodone from Gem City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center between August 21 and October 15, therefore exposing a concerning trend of activity spanning several months.

Based on these claims, the Ohio Board of Nursing suspended Works’ license in quick response, pending further investigation and legal proceedings.

Works is expected to show up formally in court on July 30 at the Montgomery County Commons Plea Court where she will face these charges formally.
