Dayton man charged in connection with eight armed robberies across local gas stations and drive-thru stores

Dayton, Ohio – A 43-year-old Dayton man, Timothy Farr, appeared in federal court on December 19, facing allegations of committing eight armed robberies at gas stations and drive-thru stores across the region in December. According to federal authorities, Farr targeted multiple locations, brandishing a firearm and demanding cash and cigarettes.

Allegations of a Crime Spree

Court documents reveal that Farr allegedly began his crime spree on December 3 and continued through December 15, targeting businesses in Dayton, Riverside, and Springfield. On December 3, Farr is accused of robbing a Sunoco gas station on Wayne Avenue in Dayton at around 10 p.m. He reportedly entered the store wearing a dark jacket, pants, and shoes, along with gray two-tone gloves and a black balaclava mask. Farr allegedly brandished a firearm and demanded cash, cigarettes, and Black and Mild Filter Tips, placing the items into a green plastic bag.

The following day, on December 4, Farr allegedly committed a similar robbery at a Marathon gas station on Linden Avenue in Riverside. This time, he reportedly wore the same outfit but added an N-95-style mask to conceal his identity further.

Additional Robberies Linked to Farr

The criminal complaint alleges that Farr committed armed robberies at the following locations and dates:

  • December 6: Ray’s Xenia Avenue Market on Xenia Avenue in Dayton
  • December 7: Free Pike Drive-Thru on Free Pike in Dayton
  • December 8: Sunoco gas station on Selma Road in Springfield
  • December 10: Mini Mart on N. Main Street in Dayton
  • December 11: Marathon gas station on E. Fifth Street in Dayton
  • December 15: Sammy’s Drive-Thru on Woodman Drive in Riverside

Authorities were able to identify a vehicle of interest, a 2011 red Ford Taurus, linked to the robbery locations using the Flock Safety Camera System. On December 16, Dayton police initiated a traffic stop of the red Taurus, where Farr was allegedly found in the passenger seat wearing clothing consistent with descriptions from the robberies. Police also recovered an N-95 mask on the floorboard, gray two-tone gloves in Farr’s pocket, and a 9mm pistol in his waistband.

Kenneth L. Parker, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, along with officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Dayton Police Department, Springfield Police Department, and Riverside Police Department, announced the charges against Farr. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Saunders is prosecuting the case.
