City of Dayton welcomes Emily Crow as Deputy Director of the Department of Planning, Neighborhoods & Development

Dayton, Ohio – The City of Dayton has announced the appointment of Emily Crow as Deputy Director of the Department of Planning, Neighborhoods & Development, effective December 2, 2024. In this role, Crow will be a key leader within a team overseeing more than 100 employees dedicated to community planning and engagement, zoning administration, building inspection and permitting, and economic development.

City Manager Shelley Dickstein expressed her excitement about Crow joining the team, stating, “We are happy to welcome Emily to the City of Dayton’s planning and development team. We look forward to her contributions to Dayton’s momentum.”

Extensive Experience in Urban Planning

Emily Crow brings with her an impressive background in urban planning and development. She previously served as the Development Director for Harrison Township for more than three years. Additionally, she spent 20 years as a senior planner and associate with McBride Dale Clarion, where she worked closely with cities and counties across Ohio and other regions, including the Midwest, Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic areas.

Crow’s expertise is grounded in a solid educational foundation, having earned a Bachelor of Urban Planning from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. She is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners, a testament to her professionalism and expertise in the field. Beyond her professional work, she has shared her knowledge as an adjunct instructor and guest lecturer at the University of Cincinnati.

In her new role, Crow is poised to play an instrumental part in Dayton’s continued growth and development. Her leadership is expected to guide initiatives that enhance the city’s neighborhoods, foster community engagement, and drive economic vitality.
