Dayton, Ohio – Crews from the City of Dayton’s Department of Water are continuing their efforts to address reports of cloudy tap water affecting homes in parts of the city. The current focus is on flushing hydrants along Patterson Road, Woodman Drive, and Woodbine Avenue to help remove trapped air from the water lines. Officials emphasize that while the water may appear cloudy, it remains safe for all uses and does not require boiling.
The cloudiness is being caused by air that entered the water system, creating bubbles that give the water a milky appearance. “Air in the line is causing the cloudy appearance in the water. It is safe to use your water without boiling,” the city stated.
The flushing process began yesterday afternoon and will continue until the system is running clear. Residents who notice cloudy water in their homes are encouraged to run cold water from their bathtubs for 10 to 15 minutes or until the water clears. This simple step can help remove any remaining air in individual home plumbing.
Water quality remains a top priority for the city, and the Department of Water is actively working to ensure that service returns to normal as quickly as possible. “The Department of Water is aware of an issue concerning cloudy water in some homes due to air in the lines,” the city noted. “Crews began flushing hydrants yesterday afternoon and will continue until the lines are clear.”
Dayton officials are also promising ongoing communication with residents. Updates will be shared as the work progresses or if any new developments arise. In the meantime, residents are thanked for their patience and cooperation. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue. We will provide updates as they become available,” the statement added.
Anyone with additional questions or concerns about their water service is encouraged to contact the City of Dayton’s Department of Water directly.
