Montgomery County deputies search for critically missing 73-year-old man who disappeared after Uber ride to Dayton area

Dayton, Ohio – Authorities in Montgomery County are urging the public to stay alert as deputies work to locate a missing elderly man whose disappearance has raised serious concern due to health risks. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 73-year-old Jerry Vaughn has been reported as a critically missing adult after failing to return home.

According to officials, Vaughn was last seen on April 23, 2026, at around 6:00 p.m. He initially left his residence on foot in Washington Township before later arranging transportation through a rideshare service. Investigators say he took an Uber and was dropped off near North Wilkinson Street in Dayton. Since that moment, there has been no confirmed contact, and his current location remains unknown.

Concern grows due to missing medication

Authorities have emphasized that there is increasing worry for Vaughn’s safety because he does not have access to essential medication. This factor has pushed the case into a more urgent category, as time may be critical for his well-being.

Vaughn is described as a white male standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing roughly 187 pounds. He has gray hair and brown eyes. When he was last seen, he was wearing a gray polo shirt along with gray shorts, and he may have been wearing loafers.

Search efforts are ongoing, with law enforcement asking residents to pay close attention to their surroundings and report anything unusual. Even small details could help investigators piece together his movements after being dropped off in Dayton.

Anyone who may have seen Jerry Vaughn or has information about where he might be is strongly encouraged to contact the Regional Dispatch Center immediately at 937-225-4357 (HELP). Officials continue to stress that quick reporting could play a key role in ensuring his safe return.
