Toledo, Ohio – In a major boost for Ohio’s economy and its auto manufacturing sector, Governor Mike DeWine announced that Stellantis will expand operations at its Toledo Assembly Complex, investing $400 million to produce a new midsize truck and creating 900 new jobs. The news came after a personal phone call from Stellantis Senior Vice President Shane Karr, who confirmed the company’s decision to grow its footprint in northwest Ohio.
“Stellantis is already a major player in Ohio’s automotive manufacturing industry, employing more than 4,300 people at its Toledo Assembly Complex, and this new $400 million investment will add another 900 new jobs,” Governor DeWine said. “This expansion will continue to reinforce Toledo’s legacy in the automotive sector, positioning Ohio at the forefront of the global automotive industry.”
A Major Win for Ohio’s Auto Industry
Stellantis, one of the world’s largest automakers, already plays a vital role in Ohio’s manufacturing ecosystem. The company’s decision to increase its investment in the state highlights both the region’s historical importance in the auto industry and its readiness for future growth. This new project further cements Ohio as a leading location for advanced vehicle production.
The Toledo Assembly Complex, already known for assembling iconic vehicles such as the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, will now add a new midsize truck to its production line. This addition is expected to further drive economic development across the region by creating additional supply chain demand and increasing employment opportunities.
A Competitive Advantage in Ohio
JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef emphasized the factors that continue to attract global manufacturers like Stellantis to the state. “A multinational, global leader and strong partner in automotive manufacturing, Stellantis could expand anywhere, but today the company has once again chosen to make its U.S. footprint larger in Ohio,” Nauseef said.
He continued, “One of the largest and most reliable workforces in the automotive industry, proximity to customers and suppliers, and the top infrastructure in the United States allow Stellantis to gain a competitive advantage in Ohio.”
The expansion aligns with Ohio’s broader economic goals, reinforcing its standing as a hub for innovation and manufacturing. As the state continues to attract investment from major global companies, the impact on local communities, employment, and infrastructure will be long-lasting.
This latest announcement is not only a testament to Stellantis’ trust in Ohio’s workforce and infrastructure but also a clear signal that the Buckeye State remains a national leader in manufacturing and automotive excellence.
