City leaders and first responders to connect with residents during National Night Out stops across Dayton

Dayton, Ohio – The City of Dayton is preparing for its National Night Out celebration tour on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, a community event designed to strengthen bonds between residents, local leaders, and first responders. The Dayton Police Department will lead a Neighborhood Caravan Tour, joined by city officials as well as police and fire personnel, making stops at four neighborhood celebrations across the city.

National Night Out has been helping to build a sense of community for four decades. The annual event, held on the first Tuesday of August, stretches across the United States, Canada, and even military installations around the world.

Organizers explained that the initiative has grown significantly since its beginnings. What started as a simple idea of neighbors leaving their porch lights on has now become a series of community block parties, cookouts, and neighborhood gatherings. These events provide opportunities for citizens, law enforcement, and local government officials to interact in a positive setting while also showing unity against crime.

Caravan Tour Schedule and Community Support

Thanks to the Greater Dayton RTA, two buses will transport city leaders, police officers, and firefighters to each stop along the tour. The evening’s schedule includes:

  • 5:30 p.m. – Old North Dayton at Stuart Patterson Park, 238 Baltimore Street

  • 6:00 p.m. – Linden Heights at The Glen, 611 St. Joseph Avenue

  • 6:30 p.m. – Westwood at Westwood Elementary, 2805 Oakridge Drive

  • 7:00 p.m. – Dayton View Triangle at Omega Campus, 1816 Harvard Boulevard

These events are expected to bring together families, neighbors, and officials for a night of fun, food, and connection.

With the focus on preventing crime and promoting unity, Dayton leaders hope that this year’s National Night Out will remind residents of the strength and resilience that comes from standing together.
