Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced that the 20th and 21st “super loads” of nearly two dozen will be departing from Adams County on Friday, September 27, and Saturday, September 28. Both loads are set to be delivered on Sunday, September 29, at different times.
These upcoming loads are absorbers, identical to the previous ones transported last weekend. Each load stands at 17 feet 4 inches tall, 18 feet wide, and 86 feet long, with a total weight of 129,000 pounds. The sheer size and weight of these super loads require careful planning and coordination to minimize disruptions.
Route and Delivery Schedule
Load #20 will begin its journey from Manchester to Rickenbacker on Friday, September 27. On Saturday, September 28, Load #21 will depart on the same route and meet up with Load #20 at Rickenbacker. Early Sunday morning, around 6:30 a.m., Load #20 will depart and make a stop at Freedom Way in Pickerington. The crew will then return to Rickenbacker to pick up Load #21, which will be transported through the city of Columbus to its final destination at the Intel site. Once delivered, the crew will backtrack to Freedom Way to continue the route and complete the delivery of Load #20.
Given the slightly smaller size of these loads compared to previous ones, the impact on traffic is expected to be minimal. However, detailed planning ensures that these deliveries avoid any conflicts with local events such as festivals and fairs.
Staying Updated on Super Load Movements
For those interested in tracking these super loads, detailed route information and departure times are available. Notifications will continue to be shared in advance for each load leaving the dock on the Ohio River near Manchester in Adams County. Updates on the progress of each load will be provided as they head north toward central Ohio.
