Pennsylvania – In a distressing case in Pennsylvania that has shocked the community, a 35-year-old mother, identified as A. Gregorio, and a 52-year-old grandmother, identified as S. Louder, were arrested for the prolonged and severe abuse of a 12-year-old girl. According to reports, they kept the 12-year-old girl tied to her bed every night while she slept, fed her pet food, and intentionally overmedicated the girl before she was hospitalized. The accused, Gregorio and Louder, are facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault of a victim under 13, conspiracy, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, and tampering with evidence
The harrowing details emerged when the young victim, suffering from seizure-like symptoms, was admitted to a hospital. During her treatment, medical staff noticed marks across her body that hinted at abuse. While in the hospital, the girl’s mother admitted that she had given her daughter over-the-counter medicine, including Benadryl and melatonin, just before the symptoms started. An investigation quickly unfolded, revealing a pattern of severe treatment inflicted on the girl by her own family members.
According to police reports, the girl was often restrained to her bed for extended periods, sometimes up to 12 hours, during which she was forced to relieve herself where she lay. The restraints not only caused physical injuries but also deep emotional trauma. The girl reportedly told authorities that being restrained made her “mad” and “hurt.”
Adding to the horrors, it was disclosed that the young girl was compelled to eat pet food—a degrading act that her mother admitted to during a phone conversation with a witness. She reportedly told another witness that she did not like restraining her daughter but claimed Louder, her mother, was “making” her do it. Authorities revealed that Louder and Gregorio had installed surveillance cameras in the girl’s bedroom to monitor her and ensure she didn’t escape the restraints. The child’s suffering was further evidenced by her severely malnourished condition. Prosecutors said her the girl weighed only 50 pounds at the time she was admitted in the hospital, putting her in the 0.01 percentile for her age group, a critical indicator of long-term neglect and mistreatment.
During the investigation, detectives also discovered incidents where Gregorio hit the girl in the head with a broom, and instead of seeking medical help, Louder allegedly covered the wound with glue. Around the same time, the girl showed up at school with a black eye. When questioned, she told school staff that she had walked into a wall. Soon after, she was pulled from traditional schooling and enrolled in cyber school, effectively isolating her from anyone who might notice her injuries.
The community’s response has been one of outrage and disbelief. District Attorney S. Sanguedolce expressed his horror, stating, “The abuse of this child offends the sense of decency of every mother, grandmother, and otherwise respectable person imaginable.” The DA has vowed to seek the maximum sentence allowed by law to signal that such heinous behavior will be met with stern justice. Currently, Louder and Gregorio are being held on a $125,000 cash bail. They await their court date on May 6, where they will face the legal consequences of their actions. The case not only highlights the disturbing acts of the accused but also the vulnerability of children who depend on adults for care and protection.
The community and authorities are rallying to ensure that justice is served. The case serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and the importance of protective services for children. As the legal process unfolds, many hope it will bring closure and justice for the young victim, who suffered unimaginably under those who were supposed to protect her.
