Trial scheduled for driver that killed family of three in a fatal accident

Montgomery County, Ohio – A court date has been scheduled for a Xenia woman who was involved in a wrong-way collision in 2019 that claimed the lives of a family of three.

On St. Patrick’s Day in 2019, Abby Michaels was engaged in a fatal head-on accident that claimed the lives of a mother, father, and their 10-year-old daughter. According to eyewitnesses, Michaels was driving on the wrong side of I-75 when the accident happened.

According to authorities, Michaels has been charged with aggravated vehicular manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, and murder. In addition, she was charged with OVI; however, due to a judge’s order, the blood evidence against her was thrown out.

Michaels’ jury trial is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2022, according to the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court. Additionally, on July 20, 2022, there will be a pretrial conference.
