Suspects indicted after Uber driver targeted in gunpoint robbery during December ride request

Dayton, Ohio – Two men have now been indicted in connection with a December 2025 incident in Harrison Township that left an Uber driver without his vehicle and fearing for his life.

Authorities say Shaquan Barker and Armone Kinney have been indicted on complicity to commit aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, which is considered a felony of the first degree. The charges stem from a robbery that took place in December 2025 when an Uber driver was allegedly lured to a location in Harrison Township and forced out of his vehicle at gunpoint.

Uber Driver Robbed During Ride Request

According to investigators, the incident happened on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at approximately 6:56 p.m., when deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4000 block of Indian Runn Drive in Harrison Township after receiving a report of an aggravated robbery.

The victim told deputies that he had been working as an Uber driver at the time and had picked up two individuals requesting a ride. The ride request indicated a destination in the Meadows of Catalpa neighborhood in Harrison Township.

However, as the driver approached the area, one of the passengers allegedly asked him to stop earlier than planned. The rider told the driver that he could stop in the 4000 block of Indian Runn Drive rather than continuing to the address listed on the ride request.

Once the vehicle stopped, investigators say the situation quickly turned suspicious. One of the passengers told the driver that he had dropped something underneath the seat and could not reach it.

Attempting to help, the driver stepped out of the vehicle and began adjusting the seat while looking underneath to locate the item.

At that moment, authorities say the suspect jumped into the driver’s seat and attempted to drive away with the vehicle.

The driver, who had moved toward the rear passenger door, tried to get into the back seat in an effort to stop the theft. But the situation escalated when the second suspect pulled out a firearm and threatened to shoot the driver if he did not exit the vehicle.

Fearing for his safety, the victim stepped away as the suspects drove off in his car.

Investigation Leads to Arrests

Following the robbery, investigators moved quickly to locate the stolen vehicle. Using the vehicle’s tracking capabilities and working closely with the Dayton Police Department, officers were able to locate the car shortly afterward.

Authorities found the vehicle on an abandoned property in the City of Dayton.

Detectives then began a deeper investigation to identify the suspects responsible for the robbery. The investigation included coordination with Uber, review of available video footage, and the use of other investigative tools.

Through those efforts, investigators were able to identify the suspects as Shaquan Barker and Armone Kinney.

The two men were later arrested in Warren County after law enforcement officers pursued them while they were driving another stolen vehicle.

Authorities say both suspects remain in custody following their arrests.

Barker is currently being held at the Montgomery County Jail, while Kinney will be transferred to Montgomery County custody once his court proceedings in Warren County are completed.

The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Montgomery County legal system as prosecutors move forward with the charges connected to the armed robbery of the Uber driver.
