Structure fire in Dollar General store in Springfield; local fire officials to investigate the incident as arson case

Springfield, Ohio – An investigation into a potential arson has been initiated following a fire incident at a Dollar General store in Springfield.

Upon receiving reports of a structural fire, Springfield Fire Department was promptly dispatched to the Sunset Avenue store at 12:15 a.m., according to the city’s dispatch center.

Upon inspection, firefighters observed fire and smoke emerging from the rear of the building, leading them to escalate the situation to a working fire status.

Forcing entry into the premises, firefighters discovered that the interior remained unaffected by the fire, leading to the conclusion that the blaze was restricted to the exterior of the building.

Despite the fire being swiftly extinguished within the first hour of crew arrival, suspicions of arson prompted a call for investigators.
