Shots fired report prompts call for officer assistance in Dayton; 1 in custody

Dayton, Ohio – One person was taken into custody after police responded to reports of shots fired in Dayton that prompted a request for countywide officer assistance Tuesday morning, according to police.

Officers were requested to the 2000 block of Malvern Avenue around 12:20 a.m. after the Shot Spotter system detected gunshots in the area.

After arriving on scene, police found a man sitting in a car while holding a gun which prompted the request for police backup, according to dispatchers. One person was taken into custody a short time later.

No shots were fired by police and no injuries were reported, according to investigators.
