Plans for a 50-unit apartment complex moving forward

Kettering, Ohio – Plans are moving ahead for a 50-unit apartment building to be built behind the Meijer store off Hempstead Station Drive, which would add 50 housing units to the city.

According to the developer’s website, Darby Run apartments will be created by Spire Development, a Columbus-based real estate company that builds and owns communities for working families and seniors. According to the property description, the apartment complex is a general-occupancy workforce housing community.

According to city planning papers, the building would include 50 apartments, with one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom layouts among the choices. There would also be a community center, a laundry facility, a playground, and a covered picnic area on the property.

However, prices for the units were not immediately available, but the developer anticipates that the complex will be completed by 2023.

The proposals for the housing complex were recommended for approval by Kettering’s planning commission this week, and the city council will now have to vote on whether or not to accept the final designs.
