Oregon teacher arrested on sexual-related charges after falling into detectives trap

An elementary school teacher in Oregon has been taken into custody after attempting to meet with two teenagers in a Redmond hotel to have sex.

Fortunately, the teenagers that the perpetrator thought he was going to meet were actually two detectives who went undercover, one of them pretending to be a 14-year-old girl and the other pretending to be a 13-year-old girl.

The undercover detectives met the 50-year-old McMinnville teacher, Andrew Hammond, online. They claim to have used these fake identities to communicate with Hammond, informing him on many occasions that they were minors. This did not stop Hammond from having sexually explicit conversations with them.

According to police, they apprehended Hammond on March 25 after he offered to meet with the minors at a Redmond hotel. According to police, it took months for Hammond to make the proposal.

According to detectives, condoms, lubricant, handcuffs, and duct tape were discovered in Hammond’s car. The Oregon teacher is now being held in the King County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

A number of charges have been filed against him, including four counts of communicating with a child for immoral purposes, attempted child rape in the second degree, and attempted child rape in the third degree.
