Ohio ticket holder narrowly beats deadline to claim multi million dollar Powerball prize

Akron, Ohio – Months after the August 27, 2025 Powerball drawing, the Ohio winner of a $2 million prize has officially come forward to claim the life-changing amount. The ticket, purchased at Circle K #5702, located at 3520 S. Arlington Road in Akron matched all five white ball numbers drawn that evening: 9, 12, 22, 41, 61, with Powerball 25 and a 4X Power Play.

Trust Claims the Prize Just in Time

The winning ticket was claimed by The Blessed Family Trust, represented by trustee Andrew J. Pfeifer, Esq., just within the required 180-day claim period. Had the prize not been claimed in time, the massive win would have expired and gone unclaimed.

The original prize of $1 million was automatically doubled to $2 million due to the Power Play option selected at the time of purchase. The odds of winning this particular prize—matching all five white balls without the red Powerball—were 1 in 11,688,053.52.

After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 26.75%, the trust will receive a lump sum payout of $1,465,000.

Other Winners Across the Country

While the $861 million jackpot was not won that night, two other $2 million Match 5 with Power Play tickets were sold in Mississippi and Virginia. Additionally, three $1 million Match 5 tickets (without Power Play) were sold in Arizona, New York, and Virginia.

Powerball remains one of the most widely played lottery games in the U.S., with tickets sold in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern in Orlando, Florida.
