Ohio Kid Helps Homeless Community in Creative Way

Dayton, Ohio – Giving back to the community is what Rylee Davis, 10, is all about. That’s why she’s participating in a virtual packing party for the homeless.

“I have food in the refrigerator, I have a table to eat at, and some kids have to live together and especially during this time, people are really struggling and that’s why it’s important to me to know that they can get their fair share,” said Davis. “Because if I have too much, I can most definitely give some to them.”

These hygiene care packages will be donated to Daybreak, Dayton’s homeless teen shelter.

Davis is one of 100 kids across the nation to participate in project i am. She met the founder Jahkil Jackson through her talk show, The Rylee Show.

“When everything started to get into the ease of the pandemic, then I started doing Instagram Live interviews and my very first interview was with Jahkil,” she said.

After successfully putting together 50 care packages, Davis is now ready to box them up. Through this project, she says she hopes to inspire others her age to pursue their dreams.

“You don’t have to wait to be great,” she said. “You can start now. You can start at the age right now. It doesn’t matter if you want to be an artist when you grow up. You don’t have to wait until you’re 20. You can do it now. I’m ten and I can do this right now. That means I don’t have to wait to be great.”

Davis will be dropping off the box of packages in the next couple of days.
