ODOT seeks public input on proposed projects across multiple counties

Lima, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 is inviting public comments on several proposed projects across Allen, Defiance, Putnam, and Wyandot counties. This initiative, in line with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 11988, aims to gather community feedback to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and address public concerns. Here are the details of the proposed projects:

Allen County: State Route 65 Bridge Maintenance

ODOT is planning bridge maintenance and painting on the State Route 65 bridge over U.S. 30, southwest of the village of Cairo. The construction will necessitate temporary closures on State Route 65 and U.S. 30, with vehicular traffic detoured accordingly. Local access will be maintained throughout the construction period. The work is scheduled from spring to fall 2026.

Additional details can be found on the project website: State Route 65 Bridge Maintenance.

Defiance County: State Route 66 Slope Repair

The slope repair project on State Route 66 will span from just north of Greenler Road to the existing retaining wall south of the Auglaize River, near Defiance city. Temporary roadway closures will be in effect, and traffic will be detoured. Local property access will be preserved. Construction is anticipated in summer 2026.

  4. Replacing a deficient culvert near mile marker 8.53.

Temporary closures will be implemented, with detours for through traffic and maintained local access. Construction is expected in spring and summer 2027. Minor impacts to the floodplain of the Ottawa River are anticipated, with no significant rise in flood levels.
